La primera corresponde a una fase de estancamiento y fusión de hielo, durante la cual se depositó till melt out en una lago proglacial. La segunda fase está asociada a un avance posterior del glaciar, el que deformó los sedimentos de la primera fase y depositó una extensa morrena de fondo. Durante el postglacial el área fue afectada por una intensa erosión fluvial que disectó el relieve original. La ingresión marina holocénica se produce tardíamente por el valle glacial del Estrecho de Magallanes, afectan do el relieve bajo los 6 m s.n.m.Two glacial phases associated to the last pleistocene glaciation were recognised in the Cabo Negro area. The first corresponds to a stagnation and fusión of the ice phase with till melt out depositation in a proglacial lake. The second, corresponding to a glacial advance, which deformed the sediments of the first stage and deposited an extensive bottom moraine. An intense fluvial erosion, diseccting the original relief, took place during the postglacial.
