Diez especies se encuentran en el registro de avistamientos y 19 en el de varamientos y/o restos óseos. Sólo tres especies: Megaptera novaeangliae (Borowski 1781). Cephalorhynchus commersonii (Lacépéde 1804) y Lagenorhynchus australis (Peale 1848) resultaron frecuentes en algunos sectores del área. Se plantea a necesidad de desarrollar estudios detallados sobre correlaciones entre oceanografía y distribución de cetáceos para identificar sus requerimientos en el áreaThis study document the occurrence of 21 species of cetaceans in the Strait of Magellan. 10 species known from sightings and 19 as strandings. Only three species: Megaptera novaeangliae (Borowski 1781), Cephalorhynchus commersonii (Lacépéde 1804) and Lagenorhynchus australis (Peale 1848) were common or frequent in certain scctions of the whole arca.
