La mayor concentración de yacimientos, como también los mayores conchales fueron encontrados en la bahía de Puerto Edén. Los depósitos representan a lo menos 1.000 años de ocupación, con fechas seguras desde 1800 A.P. hasta 800 A.P., alcanzando probablemente el período de contacto. El modelo de localización sugiere que existía un mayor grado de interacción social que la indicada por el registro etnográfico. Se sugiere a Puerto Edén como un centro de población en el cual se basó la explotación de los canales circundantes. Hay también indicaciones que varios grupos socio- culturales han ocupado el área y que en el pasado se emplearon estrategias de movilización alternada.The distribution of shell middens found in exploratory survey at Puerto Edén harbour and the surrounding section of the Messier channel is analyzed. The highest concentration of sites as well as the largest middens, were found within the harbour of Puerto Edén. The deposits represent at least 1000 years the occupation, with firm dates from 100 B.P. to 800 B.P. probably reaching the contact period. The location pattern suggests that there was a greater degree of social interaction that is indicated by the ethnographic record. Puerto Edén is suggested as a population center from which exploitation of the surrounding channels was based.
