Distribución y diversidad de mamíferos y aves en la Provincia de Magallanes.

Abstract

Se presenta un análisis preliminar de la diversidad de especies de mamíferos y aves de Magallanes y Chile, usando diversidad taxonómica, diversidad de comunidades y posición en la cadena alimenticia. Además, para aves, se analizaron también estas características en relación al tipo de residencia. Se evaluaron índices de diversidad taxonómica y frecuencia relativa, en función del nivel trófico, comunidad general utilizada y el tipo de residencia. Se dio por sentado el concepto de la equivalencia entre especies y nicho. Se respondió a las siguientes incógnitas generales y se discutieron sus resultados: 1.— ¿Qué tipo de hipótesis pueden basarse en las diferencias en la disponibilidad de nichos entre Magallanes y Chile? 2.— ¿Han aprovechado la Provincia, los mamíferos y las aves en forma similar? 3.— ¿Cuáles son las relaciones entre las especies de mamíferos y aves, en los diferentes distritos de Magallanes?

Preliminary analises of the diversity of species of mammals and birds in Magallanes and Chile were made using taxonomic diversity, community diversity and position in the food chain. In addition, for birds, an analysis of these characteristics in relation to type of residency was also done, índices of taxonomic diversity and relative frequency of subspeciation were evaluated as a function of trophic level, general community, and type of residency. The concept of the equivalency of a species with a niche was assumed. The following general questions are answered and the results discussed: 1.— What type of hypothesis can be supported by the differences in niche availability between Magallanes and Chile? 2.— Have both the mammals and birds exploited the province similarly? 3.— What are the relationships between the spicies of mammals and birds in the different districts of Magallanes?
