Resumen:
The second phase of the excavations done at the site where the
Spanish settlement of "Rey don Felipe" (1584) was established is des
cribed. Also evidences which show where the settlement "Nombre de Je
sús" was located are presented (52° 20' S; 68° 24' W approx.). Both of
these survived only three years after their foundation (ORTIZ T., 1970
and 1971).
Fragments of Spanish ceramics and a lead harquebus bullet were
found during the excavations of December 1970, and January-March 1971.
All of them were intermingled with vestiges left by the aborigines which
occupied the site before and after the Europeans presence.
Three appendices are included. The first establishes a typology of
the ceramics found. The second and third show the results of analysis
of the food remains encountered.
