There are two much discussed hypoteses about navigations through the Strait of Le Maire in the XVI th century, in 1526 and 1540. Cape Horn, casually visited by Drake in 1578, was "officially" rediscovered by Le Maire in 1616. An anonymous seaman left a pencil sketch of this part
of the trip. We offer a translations of the toponyms of this sketch and their geographic identification.
